Back in 2008, before president Obama was elected, this country had a sense of hope. A feeling that we could actually see real change, and move into a more positive direction. We were wrong. And by any means should we believe that this was all at the hands of Barack Obama. Yes, he made many promises that in 8 years have not been fulfilled. He gave America a false sense of hope that change would soon come. Little did we know, once he was elected, there were millions of people just waiting to ridicule our first black president. People who felt a hate so strongly for him, it became personal. Just the other day, I saw a post on Facebook tallying up the number of mass shootings in America during several different presidential terms. According to the post, Obama was in office for what was by far the largest number of mass shootings. 1,63I believe. Is he really to blame? Are we even looking at these so-called citizens who are so disturbed by having a man of color in the White House, that they would rather set us all back 100 years.. instead of progressing?
We are all living in a time where we just don't know what will happen next. In my small state, Delaware, we are losing our peers every other day. They are becoming victims to sensless murders and homicide. Young women are being beaten to death in what's supposed to be a safe establishment to learn. Young black men are murdering each other in cold blood. People we all know and love are dying. Every day we see new reports of a killing in Wilmington, a shooting in new castle, a robbery in Newark. The older I get and the more time goes on, I'm seeing more and more #RIP #SIP #PrayForDelaware #NoMoreGunViolenceInDelaware flooding my social media feeds. More daily articles from delawareonline about the latest shooting, or the latest death. It's sad. It's depressing. I can't believe what my state, and my country are going through these days. It's frightening to think that anything can hit close to home now. We want social justice, but we still have not unified ourselves.
I only see things getting worse with this next election. I'm honestly scared to see the outcome of this election, and where that will leave people's mindsets. Racism is at an all time high. At least in my lifetime. People are torn between hate, and being politically correct. There's no love being spread in the media. Our favorite music artists are forced to speak out on these issues. Positivity is at an all time low. We all feel the pain and agony swirling through the air. Humanity is lost. Love is lost.
Remember that we are killing people with kids. These people are parents, with families. It's scary to know that these bullets have no name, and the people sending them have no shame. We need to raise our kids to reach towards progression, and not to continue this sudden regression that seems to have come out of nowhere. Maybe some things will just never change. Maybe racism will always be around. Maybe we will never fully accept one another as individuals and human beings. But one thing's for sure and two things for certain, at the end of the day we are all one, and this world flows off of energy. We are all just choosing to give off the wrong Kind.
